Balancing Act

This past week I went on a camping trip. A short getaway to get my focus and have some fun with my family. While camping (RV style) in the state park, I did at least three things I'd never done before (or at least don't remember doing before).
  1. A 1 1/2 flip dive into a swimming pool
  2. Walk across a fallen tree suspended over a draw
  3. Traipse a mile-long boardwalk into the woods to see a duck pond (albeit a pond void of ducks)
Looking again at the pictures of my vacation, I realized oft times this one is a good picture of life. Sometimes it is a balancing act. We have to make sure we're walking the "straight and narrow", not leaning too far to the right or left. Our priorities must stay inline, in the proper order, if we're to continue on this path. If there's one thing I learned from my decade of gymnastics, it's that if you look down you fall down. I believe this holds true in life as well as on the balance beam.

Where is your focus? Do you have your eyes fixed on Christ, the Author and Finisher of our faith? or do you have your gaze fixed on something or someone else?
